Culinary Night!

Just over a month ago we had one of the most amazing nights of our lives!! In case you weren't aware, Brian LOVES to cook! He loves trying new recipes and mixing in various spices to old recipes. Consequently for Christmas, I enrolled us in a cooking class at Sur La Table at the Gateway in Salt Lake. Several days a week they offer different classes. You can take anything from knife skills to chocolate and everything in between. The class we attended was titled "Five Classic Recipes Every Chef Should Know." The recipes included French onion soup (Brian's personal favorite and the reason we picked that class), herb spaetzle, whole herb roasted chicken, sole a la meuniere, and chocolate molten cakes. It was so much fun!! We loved the end result and cooking was so much fun!

Here's Brian working on his french onion masterpiece!

Chef Kyle was amazing and Brian loved being able to ask all of his culinary questions to the real expert!!! The only annoying part was the know-it-all students who wished they were the head chefs! One lady got into a fight with Chef Kyle about the fish and another man tried to answer Brian's cooking questions before Kyle could.

This is Chef Kyle (red) with one of the smarty-pants students.

It was really obnoxious! I mean, if you already know everything about cooking, what are you doing taking the class? Seriously!! Aside from that though, we came away with GREAT recipes that we've made several times and a greater knowledge of the culinary art. It was quite the successful Christmas gift and we recommend it to all!
